'The Office,' 'Anchorman' star to perform at Mohegan Sun: Why Koechner loves performing

David Koechner, the actor who played Todd Packer on “The Office” (U.S.) and Champ Kind in the “Anchorman" film series, will perform at Mohegan Sun this week.

The actor and comedian will host a “The Office” themed trivia event at 8 p.m. Thursday followed by standup comedy shows on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s show will begin at 8 p.m., while the two shows on Saturday will begin at 6 and 8 p.m., respectively.

“The Office” themed trivia night will feature a Q&A as well as a meet and greet and a chance for photos with Koechner. During the trivia event, teams will compete for prizes and hear behind-the-scenes stories from Koechner about playing Todd Packer on the show.

The three standup comedy shows will feature the same routine. The shows feature a variety of topics, which include love, marriage, children’s birthday parties, and manatees. The standup shows as well as the trivia night will all take place at the Comix Roadhouse comedy club located in Mohegan Sun.

From a young age, Koechner had a calling to become an actor. He decided to become a comedian because he loves to make people laugh.

“I just enjoyed making people laugh,” Koechner said. “You find out you have that proclivity and then you get addicted to that for sure.”

Being an actor and comedian has been a fulfilling career for Koechner.

“Every time I’m on set, I’m happy,” he said. “Every time, you’re on set and get a chance to perform for people you’re happy.”

Some of his favorite memories from his career include being a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” and landing roles in the "Anchorman" film series as well as “The Office”.
