Lots of music venues still giving their staff some holiday time off, so the listings are a bit thin, but we expand a bit to include some new regional venues, within an hour's drive.

THURSDAY, Jan. 4: You can be a star at The C Note

The C Note in Hull is offering karaoke every Thursday in January, hosted by Amanda Carr. No Static – the Steely Dan tribute – is performing the "Aja" album and more at City Winery in Boston, through Friday. The Autocrats deliver a night of funk at Askew in Providence, Rhode Island. A rockin' benefit for The Simmons Farm at The Met Cafe in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, featuring Fiddlehead and three more bands.

FRIDAY, Jan. 5: Michele Rockwell Band appearing in Plymouth

Don't forget that Sarah Blacker EP release party at Club Passim in Harvard Square, where she'll be fronting a quartet, and doing her new single, the intriguing "Beautiful Murderer." Drew Dunn headlines the comedy night at the Spire Center in Plymouth. Playing Dead escapes from its Wednesday night residency at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke to light up the weekend. Roots music is the theme when Nora Brown and Stephanie Coleman join forces at the Narrows Center in Fall River. The Michele Rockwell Band brings the blues to G-Pub in Plymouth. Surely a unique sound when Mia x Ally – a fiddler and a bagpiper – get down at Brighton Music Hall. Corey Rodrigues tops the comedy night at The District Center in Taunton. Seth Rosenbloom's blues at The Burren in Somerville. Gimme Gimme Disco heats up Big Night Live in Boston. The Z3 is a new group worth a look, an organ trio that brings their funky feel to Frank Zappa music, at The Met Cafe in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

SATURDAY, Jan. 6:  Quincy's Chris Pahud performing in Needham

The C Note in Hull has a benefit for the Children's Museum, with comics like Bob Niles and Christine Hurley ensuring a good time. The Funky White Honkies big-band R&B at the Narrows Center in Fall River. Zakk Sabbath – the Black Sabbath tribute with guitarist Zakk Wylde – shakes up The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. Quincy's basso profundo folksinger Chris Pahud is at The Homegrown Coffeehouse in Needham, on a double bill with Tom Pirozzoli. Comic Ian Karmel is the attraction at City Winery in Boston. There There rocks The Sinclair in Cambridge.  The Ken Clark Organ Trio is certainly one of Boston's most underrated gems, and they are at The Fallout Shelter in Norwood. The Eagles Experience – a tribute to you-know-who – at The District Center in Taunton. Folk vet Don White at Club Passim in Cambridge. They're calling it "a night of countrified rock" at Askew in Providence, Rhode Island, where the Liz Spencer Band shares the bill with Nick Casey and Dusty & the Brakes.

SUNDAY, Jan. 7: Chante Moore brings soul to Boston

Soul queen Chante Moore sings at City Winery in Boston; while the John Allmark Jazz Quintet takes over Askew in Providence, Rhode Island.

MONDAY: Robert Glasper has redefined rhythm and blues in various ways, winning five Grammys along the way, so his multiple shows at City Winery in Boston – through Wednesday – are legitimately a big deal.

WEDNESDAY: Playing Dead is back at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke

On Saturday night, The Narrows Center in Fall River hosts a special Swinging Steaks show, as they will unveil the music from their forthcoming album, “Yoyo.”

JAN. 11: The Swinging Steaks have sold out their show at The Fallout Shelter in Norwood (but they're coming to the Spire Center in Plymouth in February). The Purple Madness – a tribute to Prince – heats up City Winery in Boston; while Boston's Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers warm up The Porch in Medford.

JAN. 12:  Rebels – a Tom Petty tribute – arrives at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke; while the Rhythm Future Quartet brings gypsy jazz to the Spire Center in Plymouth.

JAN. 13: Celtic rock with The Young Dubliners roars into the Spire Center in Plymouth; while Brockton's hard-working bluesman Professor Harp is back from his South American tour and headlining The Porch in Medford; and Americana chanteuse Sarah Borges is playing the Narrows Center in Fall River, with rock legend Eric Ambel in her band; South Shore favorite Susan Cattaneo sings at The Fallout Shelter in Norwood; and Motion City Soundtrack rocks The Paradise Rock Club in Boston.
