Odell Beckham Jr. staying in ‘regular contact’ with Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp

The Los Angeles Rams may not have signed any outside free agents yet this offseason, but they remain interested in one of the top wide receivers available, Odell Beckham Jr. Just as they were last year when he was on the market, the Rams remain interested in Beckham.

According to NFL Network’s Jim Trotter, the Rams are a team that’s “watching this situation closely,” keeping tabs on the free-agent receiver. Sean McVay said earlier this month that the Rams were going to “absolutely monitor” Beckham’s availability, so this goes along with what the coach indicated.

“I’ve been told Odell has stayed in regular contact with Matthew Stafford, as well as Cooper Kupp. And the GM Les Snead has remained in regular contact with Odell’s agent,” Trotter reported on NFL Network.

The Rams have given Allen Robinson permission to seek a trade, but no deal has come to fruition yet. They most likely won’t cut him because that won’t save them any cap space, but even if Robinson remains on the roster for 2023, Beckham could still fit in the offense.

“We know the Rams are not going to be big spenders in free agency this offseason, but if by chance Odell is willing to take a reasonable deal and let’s say, even a one-year deal, re-establish himself then get back out on the open market, this would seem to be a good spot knowing he had so much synergy with Matthew Stafford, as well as with Sean McVay in terms of play calling and play design,” Trotter added. “It’s just something to watch here that the Rams have not ruled out the possibility of Odell returning to Los Angeles.”

Beckham publicly said he wasn’t happy with the Rams’ offer last year, saying he got the “lowest of low offers” from them. He also tweeted that he would gladly re-sign with the Rams when they sent him “a real offer.”

It’s obvious he enjoyed his time with the Rams and would like to continue that, but they might need him to take a discount compared to what other teams may be offering.

An offer of $4 million won’t be enough, either.
