An Ode to Earth, Wind and Fire's Style on the 21st Night of September

The month of September is known for two annual viral music moments. The first is Green Day’s mega hit “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” which normally trends on the first day of September for obvious reasons. And the second is Earth Wind & Fire’s classic “September,” which trends due to the opening line “Do you remember the 21st night of September?” So, since today is the 21st night of September and the first day of fall is tomorrow, we figured we would take you back through the visual history of the song that has withstood the test of many decades.

“September” was released as a single on November 18th, 1978. The song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot R&B Songs Charts, number eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and number three on the U.S. singles chart. “September” was added to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2018, and has gone on to have a major cultural impact with features in numerous movies, television shows, and commercials.
