Ocean City's Seacrets reopens for rocking shows, live music and comedy on tap at beaches

While the overall bar and restaurant scene has been on the mellow side since the start of the year, live entertainment will help folks kick the wintertime blues this February.

Ocean City heats up with events at Seacrets, Fagers and more

In Ocean City, Seacrets has been temporary closed for its annual winter vacation but it will reopen at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, with live acoustic rock tunes by Opposite Directions beginning at 5 p.m. Another local favorite, Full Circle, will play an acoustic happy hour show of its own at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2.

Also in Ocean City, the Tequila Frogs nightclub will host a comedy event Friday, Feb. 2. Funny man Stevie Jay will host the standup open-mic night, for which admission is free. Signups will begin at 8 p.m., with the laughs commencing shortly thereafter at 8:15 p.m.

Last but not least in OC, Fager’s Island announced that tickets have sold out for its 10th Annual Oyster Garden event. It is set for Saturday, Feb. 17, and includes live music courtesy of Baltimore jam band Blue Miracle.

Fager’s still has some tickets remaining, however, for its 12th annual Brewgrass celebration scheduled for Saturday, March 23. That one will center around microbrews, food and performances by the String Buzzards and the Dirty Grass Players ($72).

Nashville country rockers coming to Dewey Beach this summer

In Dewey Beach, the Bottle & Cork nightclub just announced that Nashville country-rock trio The Cadillac Three will raise the roof Wednesday, June 19. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 ($35).

Although the Cork is closed for the winter, 2024 is shaping up to be another big year; spring and summer concerts by singer-songwriter Nate Smith, emo-punk act Taking Back Sunday and country star Jake Owen have already sold out in advance.

Hot shows set at The Listening Booth, Room at Cedar Grove

Elsewhere in coastal Sussex County, The Listening Booth also has a lot of music shows on tap. The acoustic venue in the Tanger Outlets Surfside shopping center on southbound Route 1 at Midway will host a sold-out concert by Christine Havrilla on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Tickets are still available for a Thursday, Feb. 8, appearance by Canadian touring artist Aleksi Campagne, who will follow a 7 p.m. opening set by Rehoboth Beach’s own Nate McCormick ($30).

The nearby Room at Cedar Grove, located west of Midway, has a pair of sellouts this week. Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Leslie Mendelson, who has collaborated with both Jackson Browne and the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, performs Thursday, Feb. 1. Rock pianist Josh Cristina returns to\ entertain a packed house Saturday, Feb. 3.

Looking ahead a month, a mere 12 tickets were left at last count for a performance by saxophonist Ron Holloway and his funk-rock band at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 8 ($64 includes dinner).
