We’re Obsessed With the New Kinder Joy ‘Harry Potter’ Funko Collection Eggs!

Oh Harry Potter fans, have we got a ~treat~ for you. Have you ever enjoyed the sweet, crispy indulgence of a Kinder Joy Egg? If not, you’re truly missing out. Not only is one side of the egg filled with creamy, chocolatey goodness topped with a couple of crunchy little morsels, but the other side houses a fun toy. And now, you can get some that have mini Harry Potter Funko dolls in them as the toys!
That was fun enough. But something even more magical has happened: Tom Felton (aka Draco Malfoy himself) has gotten in on the action, partnering up with Kinder Joy. “It’s two of the biggest things of my childhood coming together at once, so I didn't have to think twice about saying ‘yes, I'd love to be part of this campaign,’” Felton told us in a Zoom interview.

Recently, we chatted with the Harry Potter bad boy and learned that Felton and Kinder Joy Eggs go way back to before he was even known as Malfoy. “It was my most enjoyable treat as a kid,” Felton said. “Kinder Joy Eggs were my Friday treat, basically, when I got picked up from school by my mum.”
What makes this version of the beloved candy so special, though, is the integration of Harry Potter Funko toys. There are 12 figures you can collect, including the main three —Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley — as well as characters like Dobby, Hagrid, Snape, and Draco Malfoy, of course. So naturally, we had to ask Felton what it was like seeing himself as Malfoy as a Funko toy. “Anytime you see your own image — or slight version of your image — in a toy form is pretty cool. But I’ve seen how Funko has just become incredibly collectible and popular,” he said.
Beyond the 12 characters, there are also four other toys you can get in your egg, including a Cedric Diggory bookmark or a Hogwarts Castle-themed sticky note set. However, we couldn’t help but wonder who Felton’s favorite character (beyond Malfoy, of course) is. “My one off the bat is Gilderoy Lockhart,” he told us. Lockhart isn’t one of the characters you can expect to get in your Kinder Joy Egg, but Felton went on to list another who is: Snape, as played by Alan Rickman in the movies. “Alan Rickman throughout the film sort of astounded me [with] how scary and charming he was at the same time. But for some reason, Gilderoy Lockhart, his pompous arrogance was... hilarious,” he said. But he has more faves than that, noting also Dumbledore, who is, BTW, one of the figures you can get also in the Kinder Joy Eggs.
We don’t know about you, but we’re already heading to Walmart’s website to order at least 10 to get our collection started — can you say Accio?
