Whatever song you thought was going to be the one for the summer, forget it.
A day after Taylor Swift dropped her 18-song summer album titled “Lover,” former president Barack Obama set upon the world a bangin’ playlist of 44 (get it?) songs to keep us all two stepping through the end of the summer.
The 44th president of the United States tweeted out a curated list of songs that he and former first lady Michelle Obama have been grooving to all summer.
“With summer winding down, here’s a sampling of what Michelle and I have been listening to — some new, some old, some fast, some slow. Hope you enjoy,” Obama tweeted.

Obama is clearly a man who likes to make lists. Every year he also provides a list of the books he’s read that summer. Earlier this month he revealed his list, which included “The Collected Novels of Toni Morrison,” “American Spy: A Novel” by Lauren Wilkinson and Nicholas Carr’s “The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains,” among others.
His summer playlist is beyond eclectic, featuring songs such as Frank Sinatra’s 1953 jazz standard “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” to 2019 break out artist Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road (Remix)” with Billy Ray Cyrus. “Old Town Road” broke a Billboard record, spending 19 weeks atop the Top 100 list after the original version of the song was removed from Billboard’s country chart for not embracing “enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.”
Obama clearly stays up on what’s currently on the radio. According to his summer playlist, Obama has been listing to the “Mood 4 Eva,” which featured on Beyoncé’s soundtrack album for Disney’s “The Lion King.”
His list also includes Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s “Señorita,” as well as music from another artist who hit the stratosphere this year in Lizzo’s “Juice.”
That’s not to say, however, that Obama isn’t reveling in the old school this summer. The playlist features Ella Fitzgerald’s “How High The Moon,” Donny Hathaway’s “I’ll Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know,” as well as Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing.”
Looks like we’ve got our Labor Day jams covered.
