Obama Dismissive of Possible Trump Presidency

President Obama spoke with Matt Lauer on Today prior to his final State of the Union address. Among the questions Lauer asked Obama was whether he felt responsible for the message Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was conveying to the American people as a push back from Obama’s message of hope and change. “The message that Donald Trump’s putting out has had adherence a lot of times during the course of our history,” replied Obama. “You know, talk to me if he wins. Then we’ll have a conversation about how responsible I feel about it.”

Obama elaborated on that point, adding that he hopes the American people can tell positive change from hateful rhetoric. Despite his confidence, Obama still acknowledged the possibility of a Trump presidency as the businessman still leads many polls. The president also voiced his regret that the federal government has become more partisan during his tenure, but he also reminded the nation there is still a lot to be positive about.
