The Oasis, Matt's El Rancho among 2023 top 100 independent restaurants in the country

Austin's independent restaurant scene has yet another thing to brag about.

Restaurant Business Magazine recently released its 2023 Top 100 Independents list, and two Austin restaurants made the list, along with a variety of restaurants around Texas.

The Oasis on Lake Travis placed 32nd on the list, and Matt's El Rancho placed 43rd. Both restaurants put up impressive numbers compared to most of the restaurants on the list, especially in the areas of the average check cost and the number of meals served in 2023.

The average check at The Oasis was $32 in 2023, based on the magazine's estimates. The restaurant served about 700,000 meals this year and made nearly $22.5 million in sales.

Matt's El Rancho boasted an average check of $31. It sold more than 630,000 meals in 2023 and raked in more than $19.5 million in sales.

The Oasis and Matt's El Rancho beat out dozens of restaurants on the list in terms of total sales and meals served while offering an average check amount much lower than other restaurants.
