NYFW: Tadashi Shoji's Spring 2018 collection takes us to the beach

Tadashi Shoji may have presented his Spring 2018 collection on a runway in New York, but he actually transported us elsewhere.

The Japanese designer opted to leave his runway clean and set the mood through a vacation-inspired playlist -- the Beach Boys blasted the room -- and a jet-set ready lineup. For next season's ready-to-wear collection, Shoji focused on tassels and pompoms, light ruffled gowns and bright colors.

In an essence, Shoji brought glamour to the beach.

If the wild prints weren't enough, the creative brought it one step further by adding thigh-high slits, deep v-neck cuts and dramatic cutouts. Models embraced Shoji's tone with textured, ruffled waves, backless sandals and dancing earrings. The floor-length section of Shoji's procession featured whimsical prints, which flowed past the models as they made their way down through the audience, allowing them to take a closer look.

Transitioning into more formal wear, he tossed the prints, opting instead for simpler pieces that were decorated with either bright colors or embellishments. Shoji jazzed up the more modest creations with structured bodices, simple ruffles or deep cutouts. From magenta ensembles to embroidered dresses, Shoji's newest collection is bound to be a fun favorite of the week.
