NYFW: Sachin & Babi's Spring 2018 collection makes a statement with sequins

Sachin & Babi transported us to Turkey with their breathtaking Spring 2018 collection.

After a trip to the Grand Bazaar and some deep research on the Ottoman Empire, Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia created an exquisite collection filled with sequins, pops of color and texture. The husband-and-wife design duo definitely didn't dissapoint with their dramatic -- yet sophisticated -- ensembles.

Turkish references throughout the show were evident. A mouth print called "Buddha's lips," which was drawn straight from the Bazaar, was featured on several pieces like a dusty pink midi dress and a simple plain white T-shirt (paired with a dramatic, ball gown-inspired skirt).

Exquisite pieces decorated with thin pinstripes and tiny embellishments were prominent in Sachin & Babi's daywear, but anyone familiar with the brand knows that evening wear is really where it shines.

A dramatic canary yellow gown (we're already imagining Viola Davis in this striking number for the 2017 Emmys) with dramatic off-the-shoulder sleeves made its way down the runway -- but not without a few oohs and ahhs from the audience.

The final look was definitely the highlight of the show -- a see-through, sequined mini dress with tassle detailing on the bottom hem that sashayed effortlessly with every step the model took.
