NYC Audience Surprised by ‘a Billion Dollars’ Worth of Comedians’

Last night, some of comedy’s heavy hitters made a surprise appearance at New York City’s Comedy Cellar. Amy Schumer, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Aziz Ansari took the stage. Schumer posted a photo to Instagram, captioning it “A night to remember.”

Jon Laster, who was part of the lineup, revealed some behind-the-scenes details. “Dave Chappelle told the manager that he didn’t wanna go on; he just wanted to watch Jerry Seinfeld go on, and then he was leaving. [Dave] quickly changed his mind and decided to go up. He and Chris Rock then went back and forth about who would be next.” Laster went on to say, “Amy Schumer overheard them and asked if she could do five minutes also to be a part of this ‘history.’ I forgot that Aziz was somewhere outside and needed to go on as well.”

A viewer recalled the best line of the night: “You guys saw a billion dollars’ worth of comedians.”
