NY’s IATSE Local One Gifts $875,000 To The Actors Fund

In one of the largest union gifts of its kind, IATSE Stagehands Local One in New York has pledged to donate $875,000 to the Actors Fund over the next five years. The donation will support the fund’s programs and services for everyone in the performing arts and entertainment industry – not just actors.

“Our members rely on the care and compassion of the Fund’s services,” said Local One president James Claffey Jr. “As a Trustee of the Actors Fund, I’m proud that Local One is able to show our support with this financial contribution.”

Said Brian Stokes Mitchell, chairman of the Actors Fund: “The financial commitment of Local One to this organization will help assure our services are there for everyone in our community in times of need, crisis or transition. The Actors Fund is truly for everyone in performing arts and entertainment, including all members of Local One IATSE.”

The donation includes $300,000 in support for the Actors Fund’s Lillian Booth Home, which will be used rebuild, expand, preserve and operate the skilled nursing and assisted living facility in Englewood, New Jersey. Another $375,000 will go to other programs and services and $200,000 for general support to be used where it’s needed most.

The fund’s programs include social services and emergency financial assistance, health care and insurance counseling, housing, and employment and training services. With offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, The Actors Fund is a safety net for those in need, crisis or transition.
