NRYSC spring concert scheduled

May 9—BECKLEY — The New River Youth Symphony and Chorus will host its spring concert on Monday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 480 Prosperity Rd., Beckley.

All four performing groups will present the gift of music at this concert.

The evening will begin with the sweet sounds of the Children's Chorus, under the guidance and direction of Kathie Kiser.

The Emerging Strings will play several fun tunes for you, including Woodland Park and Dragonhunter. The Emerging Strings is directed by Perri Kiser, a recent graduate of Liberty University and Ohio State, with several degrees in music.

The Youth Chorus, directed by Savannah Miller, will delight listeners with with their beautiful sounds on many favorites, including Homeward Bound, When You Believe (from Prince of Egypt) and Bird Song.

The Youth Symphony, under the direction of William Bailey, will inspire you with such pieces as Amadeus, Children of Sanchez and Country Roads. "It's going to be a wonderful concert, so we invite you to bring your family and friends with you and enjoy a wonderful evening," a representative of NRYSC said in a press release.

Admission is free, but donations are needed to keep this important, local youth organization going. The Sponsor A Song fundraiser is the perfect way to contribute and support our youth, while dedicating a song at the concert to that special loved one. Anyone can sponsor a song at the upcoming concert, in honor of someone or in memory of someone, for $75. Financial support is needed to keep this wonderful youth program in our area. To have a music organization of this caliber in our area and available to our youth is remarkable and should be highly valued to all.
