Tyla aced her Met Gala debut with a sculptural sand gown designed by Olivier Rousteing for Balmain, but there was one catch: She couldn't exactly walk in it. So, once Tyla cleared the steps and entered the museum, Rousteing whipped out some scissors and did what he had to do.

On Tuesday, Rousteing took to Instagram to share a video of him carefully cutting off the bottom half of Tyla's sandy dress, turning it into a mini and restoring her control over her legs. (It's all very "The Little Mermaid," if you ask me.)

Though seeing a work of art cut in half may hurt to watch for some, Rousteing's unmatched design skills gave new life to Tyla's look by turning it into a beachy party dress just in time for Ariana Grande's surprise performance.

With the flowing sandy skirt long gone and the top half of the dress splitting down the side post-gala, Tyla's debut is surely one to remember.
