Now THIS is How You Create the Coziest Room in Existence
Cozy goes hand-in-hand with beautifully designed when it comes to this coastal living room designed by Jessica McClendon of Glamour Nest. What it lacks in space, it more than makes up for in charm and comfort. The bookshelves are stocked, the pillows are perfectly fluffed and that sectional is just begging for a good cuddle session.
From Jessica...This cozy family room belongs to a busy family of four. They wanted a super comfortable lounge area for the whole family to hang out and watch movies in together. However, because of space limitations they started second guessing what to do. That's where I came in. Even though working with such a small space was a challenge, I embraced it and in the end was able to create a space that’s charming, welcoming and cozy. Since the room is small and I was already toeing a delicate line, we opted for a light and airy color palette to help keep the space feeling light. I used shades of blue, whitewashed woods and found objects like coral and driftwood to play off of the coastal location. For seating we opted for a large sectional from Restoration Hardware, which takes up most of the space but has room for the entire family. To balance out the largeness of the sofa, we made sure to choose a very medium tone fabric. That way, it wouldn't feel heavy in the space. We added a West Elm coffee table to hold drinks and snacks, but opted for a style that helped the room feel more open. Now, we did want to add a little dash of drama (I love color!) which is where the navy console and Penguin Classics book collection comes in. They add a playful pop. Lastly, we included storage ottomans that can hold magazines and throw blankets. The family can pull them up to the sofa to kick back and put their feet up, or they can be used as extra seating. When they aren't needed, they can be pushed under the console and out of the way. We used Williams Sonoma lamps, a West Elm rug, ottomans from Ballard Designs and accessories from Pottery Barn to complete the space.
