For some people, the holiday season officially starts when they hear, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the first time. But if you’re old enough to believe in Santa, it actually kicks off on Nov. 22 when The Elf on the Shelf makes its annual trek from the North Pole.

The popular holiday tradition is based on a book written by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell. According to the story, the 10-inch plush elves (called “Scout Elves”) arrive in children's homes for the countdown to Christmas. Every night, the elves fly back to the North Pole to tell Santa who was naughty and who was nice that day, before returning in the morning where they “magically” pop up in a new spot in the house.

That means for 24 days, it’s up to parents to not only secretly move the elf, but also to come up with creative scenes (think toilet bowl shark attack) that will delight their children. Basically, it’s as fun as it is exhausting!

Enter Beaches Resorts, which is helping parents take their Elf on the Shelf game to the next level by inviting families to bring their elves to three of its properties (two in Jamaica and one in Turks and Caicos) through December. From the moment they arrive, the Beaches butler service will give the elves the V.I.E. (very important elf) treatment including milk and cookies, a marshmallow bubble bath and a movie night.

“Holidays are the season for family memory-making and for many, The Elf on the Shelf brand has become a most loved and anticipated part of their annual traditions,” Luisana Suegart, Director of Public Relations for Unique Vacations, Inc.—an affiliate of the worldwide representative for Beaches Resorts—said in a press release. “It's why we're especially grateful to Santa for giving his Scout Elf helpers the permission to join families at Beaches this holiday season, and we can't wait to roll out the red carpet for them with special treats and activities during their stay with us.”

In the clip, two elves hang from a thread attached to her heating vent, with one appearing to shimmy down the rope and the other looking like he's clinging on.

"I can't take a picture of them?" Deschanel asks her kids, who begin protesting.

"Well you might not see it, they might like disappear in the picture or something," one of her kids answers.

"Oh, I hope not. What if I have magic video?" she says. "They are crafty."

"But is it an escape or a break in?" Deschanel wrote across the video.
