All About November's New Moon and What It Means for Your Zodiac Sign

Rising on Nov. 13 this year, this month's new moon has astrological and spiritual significance

There's a lot to be thankful for this month, with the moon being one of them!

While November's full moon, nicknamed the Beaver Moon, rises shortly after Thanksgiving on Nov. 27, its corresponding new moon rises on Nov. 13 this year.

Marking the beginning of the lunar cycle, new moons typically occur once a month since the moon takes approximately 29.5 days to orbit the Earth, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. In contrast to full moon appearances, new moons blend in with the dark night sky.

This is because the moon is in the phase that is not being illuminated by the Sun. However, despite its blacked-out appearance, new moons have just as much astronomical meaning in the cosmic world.

November's lunation will be a new moon in Scorpio (20 degrees), meaning this elemental water sign's energy is expected to be prominent in out lives around the time of its ascent. Signifying the eighth zodiac sign on the wheel, Scorpio aligns with intimacy, sexuality, assets and investments.

Celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomas tells PEOPLE exclusively that new moons can "open a cosmic door that had been previously closed to you" depending on "where they land for your Rising and Sun signs." A new moon in Scorpio, specifically, "turn our focus to how we share resources in our lives and within other people," he adds.

It is important to strike a balance between what we give and receive," says Thomas, who's known for his cosmic guidance for celebrities, business executives and prominent influencers. His advice? "Practice self-care, find your center, and be aware of your emotions and surroundings. Even if you feel provoked, practice mindfulness and be compassionate to yourself and others."

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

It's time to give your relationships some thought, Aries. As the new moon "energizes your sector of shared assets and intimacy," Thomas says, "you could be negotiating a new way of operating together."

Unrelated, Thomas predicts "a settlement, inheritance, bonus or line of credit could also be approved" around the time of this lunation.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Taurus, prioritize partnerships because Thomas predicts they can "take you far" at this time. As this lunar phase "aligns you within your relationships," he says you "may decide it’s time to move in, make a long-term promise or go your separate ways."

Thomas adds, "Teamwork and collaboration are also super beneficial now."

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

It's time to get on the grind, Gemini! Since this new moon will "ignite your productivity sector," Thomas says you could be seeing "a flurry of activity" in your daily routine as a result. To prepare, he suggests you try to "align your best work-life balance now."

Searching for a new job or perhaps want to take on more milestone projects with your employer? "Look now," says Thomas, who adds it's also an "auspicious period to improve your fitness, diet or physical health."

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Passion, sex, romance, oh my! As the new moon radiates upon you, Thomas says to "get ready for a flame within your heart" because dating, courtship, hobbies, creativity, sports and games will be "on top of mind" at this time.

This is a pivotal time for everyone, insists Thomas, whether you're single or not. "This is one of the most significant periods of the year for singles to put themselves out there or for committed couples to reignite their flame or try for a child," he explains.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Home is where the heart is, Leo. Thomas predicts the new moon will send energy throughout your family and domestic orb, therefore prompting a sudden move or fix-up of space. "If you’d like to spend some time with your kindred or are required to step in for a big family situation," he says "to do so with grace."

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

Brainstorms are welcome, Virgo! The new moon will "energize your sector of communications and learning," says Thomas.

On one hand, he says you will want to take on more writing, speaking, advertising or branding initiatives. On the other, he predicts a "passionate vision you want to declare to the world" may be made.

November's new moon could also prepare you to "step out of town," says Thomas. "So if you can take a quick getaway to a nearby locale, you’ll be glad that you did!" he adds.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

Focusing on finances, Libra? Well, Thomas says this new moon could have you "more energized than usual" about it! "This lunation could bring a new job offer, raise, side-hustle or lucrative client," Thomas puts forth. "Focus on your finances and consider how you can build greater wealth in the year to come."

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

Step into the spotlight, Scorpio, this new moon is all about you! Therefore, Thomas says you will likely have "a sudden open doorway to pursue your greatest personal goals, plans and desires."

"Consider the patterns you’d like to build toward in the year to come and get moving toward them now," he continues. "The universe is working in your favor!"

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Take this time for you, Sagittarius. If this new moon has you feeling a bit burnt out, don't fret! Thomas recommends you cut yourself some slack, "don't push too hard" and "go with the flow." In fact, he says this this an "excellent time" to brainstorm and focus on how you can improve your mental and physical health."

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

It's time to make your name known, Capricorn! November's new moon is about to jazz up your social life. Thomas predicts "you’ll be feeling eager to show everybody how hot, sexy and popular you truly are!"

How exactly? Thomas suggests "networking, attending events or even online dating are quite lucky for you now, so get connected and have fun."

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

Cast your eye on the prize, Aquarius. This new moon will have you "quite focused on your ambitions and professional life," predicts Thomas. "A promotion or new job offer from a competitive firm could pop up near this time," he says "Also, rewards for previously completed work done well could give you plenty of applause."

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

Keep an open mind and persepctive, Pisces. Thomas says this new moon will "energize your expansion zone," therefore causing a feeling that could have you "ready to explore everything that life has to offer."

Some may get the travel bug, while others might feel called to go back to school. If you’re feeling a spiritual vibe, Thomas says to "open up your heart and align with the universe."
