Notre Dame Children’s Choir presents 'Lessons and Carols' at Saint Mary’s College

Purdue Varsity Glee Club will perform March 1 at Wawasee High School, 1 Warrior Path, Syracuse.

SOUTH BEND — The Notre Dame Children’s Choir presents the concert “Lessons and Carols” at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s College.

An Advent and Christmas concert, the program features sacred works with scripture readings, prayers and congregational hymns performed by more than 100 children ages 5 to 18 from six different children’s choirs. The audience will be invited to participate, too.

The ecumenical Sacred Music Academy, led by Artistic Director Mark Doerries, provides free choral education and performance opportunities for children in the South Bend area regardless of socioeconomic background and draws from public, private and home schools.

It is currently accepting new singers for its choirs in the spring semester.

Students from the choirs will also sing carols at 5 p.m. Dec. 13 at Howard Park.

Admission to the concert and the caroling at Howard Park are free.
