Ireland Baldwin took to Instagram this week to share that she “underestimated just how hard” pregnancy would be on her health.

"Pregnancy is hard. It takes so much out of you. I wasn’t ready for that," Baldwin, the 27-year-old model and the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, shared Wednesday in note posted on Instagram.

"I underestimated just how hard pregnancy would be on my mind and my body," she added. "Being someone who deals with extreme health anxiety on a daily basis, pregnancy turned things into a high gear. I’ve struggled to adapt to these changes. Bodily sensations. Pains and aches.”

Baldwin, who is expecting her first child with musician André Allen Anjos, whose stage name is RAC, said she also feels as if her "brain and thoughts are going to war every single day. Mental warfare."

In the Wednesday Instagram post, she went on to describe how she feels disconnected from friends, peers and even family at times.

"It's hard moving somewhere with no family. It's hard not being really close to family to begin with because they live far or are idiots that I want nothing to do with," she wrote. "When people expect you to be glowing and angelic and in a constant state of bliss... it’s unrealistic sometimes."

"All of this is still worth it but it’s ok to admit how hard and scary it all can be. You are not alone," she added later in the post.

This isn’t the first time Baldwin has been open about health struggles she has faced.

During an episode of “Red Table Talk” on Facebook Watch last year, she detailed her healing journey from dealing with past abuse and described her struggles with mental health, including anxiety disorders.

"I had been abusive to people unknowingly, ‘cause I’m not hitting them or getting physical," Baldwin said. "There was a lot of learning I had to do and a lot of acceptance of, 'OK wait, that was abusive behavior: I was an abuser towards someone else.' But at that time, I just hit a total breaking point, and I was self-medicating with Xanax, and I was drinking, and I have a lot of alcoholism and drug addiction in my family."

In April 2020, she also hosted an Instagram Live series where she interviewed friends and strangers about mental health.
