North West’s Controversial Game of ‘Dress Up’ Has the Internet Divided

A North West controversy is brewing (what else is new?) after mom Kim Kardashian posted two photos of North on her Instagram. In the photos, the 10-year-old wears a Chicago Bulls T-shirt. Very age-appropriate, right?
What fans had a problem with were her accessories. The tween is decked out in an unbelievable amount of diamonds. Positively dripping with them. It’s like she just watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and took “Frost Yourself” to heart. (IYKYK … and if you don’t know, your homework is to go watch that early aughts classic!)

Or it’s like she raided her mom’s jewelry box (jewelry bunker?!). In the photos — one in color and one in black-and-white — she has chunky diamond bracelets on both wrists. She then has a tall diamond choker and a string of diamonds that reach her chest. Of course, both hands and ears are decked out in rings and earrings respectively. Plus, there’s what looks to be a thin diamond headband.
It’s befitting for the daughter of celebrity parents with a combined net worth of more than $2 billion. Although, based on the jaw-dropping sum North could make per TikTok video, it’s possible she bought some of those pieces herself.
“Stylist of the year,” Kardashian captioned the post.
Kardashian’s followers were starkly divided over this look. Those who liked it agreed with the SKIMS owner and wanted North’s advice, saying things like, “Northie can style me any day … she’s my vibe 🔥,” “Honestly yeah she’s giving,” and “She’s taking it!!! 🔥🔥🔥”
Others were disgusted by this display of wealth when there are kids out there who can’t afford new sneakers or a meal, much less North’s dress up box.
“Young girls love to play dress up. Difference is she gets to play with the good stuff where most kids do not.” “Poor thing!!! More money than sense.” “Spoiled brat.” “She’s probably wearing my college tuition.”
Ultimately, at age 10, they say posting photos of North like this was a poor parenting decision rather than an out-of-touch post from the child of a media personality. “Can’t believe you put her out there like this.”
We won’t be surprised if Kardashian’s protective side comes out. In 2021, when people hated on one of North’s paintings, Kardashian went into Mama Bear Mode.
“DON’T PLAY WITH ME WHEN IT COMES TO MY CHILDREN!!! My daughter and her best friend have been taking a serious oil painting class where their talents and creativity are being encouraged and nurtured. North worked incredibly hard on her painting, which took several weeks to complete…Please stop embarrassing yourselves with the negativity and allow every child to be GREAT!!! NORTH WEST PAINTED THAT PERIOTDDDDDABCDEFGZFDT!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!”
Our eyes will be peeled for a comment from the mom of four about the diamond haters keeping their “embarrassing” comments to themselves.
