North Texas theme park ranks sixth scariest in U.S. It’s all because of this ride

Hooked on adrenaline? Six Flags Over Texas has just the ride for you in the massive Titan.

No wonder the Arlington theme park got a nod as the sixth most thrilling place to visit in America, according to a study conducted by JeffBett. The survey ranked parks based on the number of roller coaster offerings, size and speed of the rides, giving scores that total 100. The study included 434 thrill rides at 113 U.S. theme parks.

Six Flags Over Texas is a 212-acre amusement park in Arlington, a 17-minute drive from Fort Worth. The park has 11 roller coasters and is the first amusement park in the Six Flags franchise. Its scariest ride is the Titan, a steel behemoth at 245 feet tall and 5,312 feet long. It’s not only big, it is fast topping 85 mph in the 3 minutes and 20 seconds it takes to make one revolution. The ride includes a tunnel that goes into a camelback then a double-helix turn.

Six Flags parks made four appearances in the top 10. The No. 1 theme park in the country is Six Flags Magic Mountain located in Valencia, California. In third, Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey. And at No. 5 is Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. Six Flags Fiesta in San Antonio ranked at No. 13.
