Noel Gallagher is famously not one to mince words when it comes to expressing his contempt for various celebrities. In a recent podcast appearance, he felt the need to provide more context for previous remarks he had made about Adele, having called the singer “f***ing awful” and her songs “offensive” back in July.

In a recent appearance on the Matt Morgan podcast, Gallagher explained that his beef with Adele originated from an invitation she had sent him to meet her, and that he apparently took issue with the fact that she had sent a proxy to relay it.

“She sent someone over to f***ing ask, ‘Did I want to meet her?’. That’s what riled me,” he said on the podcast. “I’m not one for causing a scene, I just stick it in the vault and just think revenge is a dish best served cold.”

Gallagher joked that regardless of his personal feelings about Adele, he was open to working with her in the future: “If I fall out of love with touring, I could see myself just sitting at home writing songs and sending them to my publishers. I’ll be saying, ‘Get Adele to sing that. Don’t call until she’s done the guide vocal,'” he said.

The famously crotchety former Oasis frontman and High Flying Birds singer first made headlines when he made comments on Morgan’s podcast about Adele back in July, comparing her derogatorily to 1960s chanteuse and TV presenter Cilla Black.

“F**k off, f**king hell. Name one?,” he retorted when Morgan asked if he was a fan of any of Adele’s hit songs.

It wasn’t the first time Gallagher had publicly criticized Adele, saying in a 2015 interview that he didn’t like her music and thought it was “for grannies.” It was also far from the first time Gallagher has publicly beefed with an artist. He famously lambasted UK girl group Little Mix in 2021, claiming they were “not in the same league as Oasis” after they became the first girl group to take home a prestigious Brit Award.

Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall later responded to the criticism on British TV, saying it was a “real shame” and “we are definitely the most successful girl group in the country, but he’s not even the most successful performer in his family.”

“I don’t think I have ever gone out of my way to start anything, it’s always been a reaction to some fucking idiot having a go in the first place,” Gallagher said on the podcast. “You know me, I keep myself to myself.”
