Noah Wyle vs. Jason Alexander on 'Drunk History'
On Tuesday’s Drunk History, Noah Wyle inhabited the character of Thomas Nast, a political cartoonist from the 1800s who aimed to bring down corrupt politician William Tweed, played by Jason Alexander. Narrator Jen Kirkman struggled to relay the story of the feud, being sidetracked by the heat in the room, her desire to swim, and a “fun pillow.” However, she was able to explain that Nast was a cartoonist for Harper’s Weekly who sought to expose the corruption of William “Boss” Tweed and his group of conspirators, known as Tammany Hall.

Nast’s cartoons led to Tweed’s conviction, showing that art can triumph over power. Kirkman left with some inspiring words about artists. “If you have a kid that’s an artist, don’t be like, ‘You’re a loser. What are you doing with your life?’ They might someday take down the biggest man in town. Let artists be artists. Unless they’re lip-syncing Madonna songs in the subway. But even then, just see where it goes.”
Drunk History airs Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. on Comedy Central.
