We've known for a while that an official Bob Marley biopic was going to be on the way, but with minimal updates (until now at least), and other biopics such as the forthcoming movie on the Bee Gees experiencing delays, we've been relatively unsure if the January announcement date for the Bob Marley biopic was set in stone. Well, as of yesterday, it is officially confirmed that the Bob Marley biopic, entitled Bob Marley: One Love, will be released on January 12th, 2024. When is the Bob Marley: One Love release date?

Bob Marley: One Love is due out in theaters on January 12th, 2024. The film will be distributed through Paramount.

Who is playing Bob Marley in the movie?

The titular role of Bob Marley will be played by Kingsley Ben-Adir, who took guitar lessons prior to filming in order to play the part.

Who is in the rest of the Bob Marley: One Love cast?

The role of Rita Marley will be played by Lashana Lynch (The Woman King). Also, according to USA Today, Aston Barrett Jr., son of the Wailers' bass player Aston "Family Man" Barrett, will be playing his father in the film, making this a family affair.

Bob Marley: One Love will cover different segments of his life, including the 1976 shooting attempt on him, Rita Marley, and the Wailers which almost took his life. In the trailer, you can hear Ben-Adir says as Marley saying "My life is not important to me. My life is for people," when asked about the event.

Who's directing and producing Bob Marley: One Love?

Bob Marley: One Love is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (who also directed 2020s King Richard starring Will Smith). The script was written by Frank E. Flowers, Terence Winter, Zach Baylin. Additionally Marley's son, Ziggy Marley, and his daughter Cedella Marley, serve as a co-producers along with Marley's estate representatives. Orly Marley, wife of Ziggy, will be an executive producer alongside Bohemian Rhapsody's Richard Hewitt.
