'No Time To Die': Billie Eilish fans delighted as she's linked with the James Bond theme song
Pop star Billie Eilish is the latest act to be linked with singing the theme song for No Time To Die, the 25th James Bond film, and her fans are over the moon.
Reputable James Bond blog Mi6-HQ is reporting that ‘bad guy’ singer Eilish is set to make film history as the youngest artist ever to record the theme song which will appear at the start of Daniel Craig’s fifth and final 007 film.
Born in December 2001, Eilish (real name Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell) is 18, just one year older than Pierce Brosnan’s 2002 Bond swansong Die Another Day.
The last two Bond themes were recorded by Sam Smith who was 23 when he recorded Writing’s On The Wall for Spectre and Adele who was 24 when she recorded Skyfall. Both went on to win Oscars for the songs.
Yahoo has contacted representatives for Eilish and No Time To Die, who have yet to respond.

While there’s been no official statement from the filmmakers as yet, Eilish’s fans have been responding to the news online.

Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that No Time To Die director Cary Fukunaga – who maintains a low profile on social media mainly following other filmmakers and creatives from the latest Bond film – follows Eilish on Instagram.

Hiring Billie Eilish would be a smart move for Eon Productions the company behind the Bond films. She’s the youngest female to ever have a No.1 on the UK albums chart with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2019, and her involvement would open up the 57-year-old franchise to a whole new audience, just in time for the inevitable reboot following Daniel Craig’s departure.
Last week, speculation pointed fans to suggest that Beyoncé was working on the theme song for No Time To Die after the Destiny’s Child singer shared a photo of herself sipping a martini at the Golden Globes.
This followed the news that Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer had been hired to compose music for the film as a last minute replacement for Dan Romer who had departed the film over “creative differences”. James Bond insider and author of Catching Bullets: Memoirs of a Bond Fan, Mark O’Connell says Zimmer has been working on the Bond score since last year.
“The previous composer Dan Romer left production in 2019. For a variety of reasons, it makes a great sense the House of Bond settled on Hans Zimmer. He has been working for EON Productions as an executive music producer on their forthcoming thriller, The Rhythm Section and was naturally on their creative radar,” O’Connell tells Yahoo.

“And whilst this new announcement doesn't coincide with Zimmer taking the baton (he has been attached to Bond's twenty-fifth mission and no doubt working on the film since last year), the tight turnover of time is one familiar to Mr Zimmer, as is his reputation as a highly prolific tunesmith with clear skills at turning many a score around with momentum testifies.”
Ed Sheeran was also linked with the theme song in 2019.
