‘No Time to Die’ Trailer: Daniel Craig Suits Up as James Bond for 5th and Final Time (Video)

The Daniel Craig-era of James Bond is coming to a close, and this first trailer for Bond 25, titled “No Time to Die,” aims to give him a proper send off.

What started with a gritty, origin story reboot of the 007 movies with “Casino Royale” in 2006 has culminated in one of the most exciting periods in Bond franchise history. And while it hasn’t been officially confirmed that Craig is done, he’s said time and again he’s ready to move on after this fifth turn and even injured himself while filming a stunt on set of this film.

In fact, even Bond himself has seen his better days. “No Time to Die” picks up with Bond having left active service and enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

American filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga is taking over directing duties from Sam Mendes, and he’s working from a script that has Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns, Fukunaga and “Fleabag” star Phoebe Waller-Bridge all credited as writers.

Rami Malek faces off against Bond in the film alongside a cast that also includes newcomers Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen and David Dencik. Meanwhile, Christoph Waltz is reprising his role from “Spectre” as the villain Blofeld, and Ralph Fiennes is back as MI6 head M, Ben Whishaw as the organization’s quartermaster Q, Naomie Harris as Bond’s assistant Moneypenny, Lea Seydoux as his former flame Dr. Madeleine Swann, Rory Kinnear as MI6 chief of staff Bill Tanner and Wright as Bond’s CIA counterpart Felix Leiter.

“No Time to Die” opens in the U.K. on April 3, 2020 and on April 8 in the U.S. Check out the first trailer above.
