He’s no longer ‘looking for trouble,’ now Whatcom Humane Society seeks stray pig’s home

A large, stray pig may have been “looking for trouble” Thursday morning northeast of Bellingham, but now the Whatcom Humane Society is looking for his home.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office units were advised by What-Comm 911 dispatchers at approximately 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, that “a 300-pound pig is on the loose, looking like he was going to attack” in the 2700 block of Murphy Place.

“Our animal control team has been dealing with a large pig all morning,” Whatcom Humane Society Director Laura Clark told The Bellingham Herald in an email. “He is not aggressive, just wandering and looking for trouble (smiley face emoji).

“We are knocking on doors in the vicinity of where he is currently hanging out and hope to reunite him with an owner soon.”

By late afternoon Thursday, Clark reported that the animal control team had corralled the pig and transported him to the Humane Society’s farm facility for care and safekeeping.

At the time, Clark said the Humane Society was still hoping the owner would come forward and identify the pig, but as of Friday afternoon, The Herald had not heard if the pig was safely home.

The Humane Society’s animal control department can be contacted at 360-733-2080, extension 3017.
