A toxicology report was taken from the rapper's bloodstream which returned several substances. It appears Nipsey was under the influence of marijuana and promethazine and codeine. The latter is two common ingredients found in what several musicians call "sizzurp" or "lean." It is a strong form of cough medicine, taken for its euphoric effects. Several rappers refer to taking the substance in their songs.

In Blacc Sam's original petition to administer his late brother's estate, he told the court that Nipsey's passing "has created significant media attention, which, in turn has presented potential time-sensitive business opportunities based on [Nipsey Hussle]’s likeness, right of publicity, and other intellectual property based on the media attention surrounding [Nipsey Hussle]’s exceptional life story and musical career."

Nipsey died without a will and the hip-hop star’s property was once said to be worth around $2,035,000.  His estate is worth well-over double this amount today.

"The Marathon" rapper was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, on what would have been the hip-hop star's 37th birthday.
