Whether it's all glammed up at the Oscars or bare-faced at her BFF's "beach-elorette" party, there's no denying Nina Dobrev is a natural beauty. The actress appears to be fearless when it comes to her beauty look, boldly chopping her hair into a bob one day, rocking a purple smoky eye the next, and flaunting her ability to easily apply a full face of makeup in under 90 seconds.

PeopleStyle caught up with Dobrev at the Reebok Classics Crib during the second weekend of Coachella where she took part in an outdoor sweat session to "detox before the retox," as she put it, and talk about what makes the unisex Classic Leather sneaker a total wardrobe staple, whether you're heading to the festival, hitting the gym, or just running errands, and of course how she keeps her skin looking so glowy and radiant.

Fresh off her makeup-free photo shoot for PEOPLE's World's Most Beautiful issue, we had to ask the actress all about her skincare secrets. "I like to let the skin breathe and not wear makeup for that reason," she explained, "because when you keep piling it on the pores get clogged and you'll break out and then you'll need makeup." And from there it's a slippery slope into the vicious cycle of pimples and cover-up, using more and more makeup and making your skin even worse in the process, which is why Dobrev says, "I go to Kate Somerville and get a facial once a month to get all that makeup out, and I use their whole line."

She also says that it pays off to be a zealot about your skincare, sharing "I'm religious about cleaning my whole face, taking the makeup off, putting moisturizer on, putting everything on, especially at night because that's when your body can regenerate itself." After all, it's not called beauty rest for no reason, she adds, "I've slept, so that helps with your beauty regimen. Your face and your skin is glowing and fresh so I don't feel like I need [makeup] as often." And finally, for those in search of a quick fix, Dobrev recommends you do as Mariah Carey does and opt for low lighting. As the diva chanteuse would tell you herself, all other forms of illumination are bleak, darling.
