Nikki Bella is getting candid about her relationship with fiancé Artem Chigvintsev

The Total Bellas star, 37, revealed on the latest episode of Kaitlyn Bristowe's podcast Off the Vine that she and the 38-year-old Dancing with Stars pro dancer — with whom she shares 5-month-old son Matteo Artemovich — are in couples therapy.

Bella said that when Chigvintsev "gets really stressed, he doesn't realize his tone."

"We're actually in therapy for this," she said.

The candid revelation came after Bristowe, who won season 29 of DWTS with Chigvintsev last year, admitted that the duo clashed at times during their partnership and asked Bella if she had a similar experience. (Bella and Chigvintsev were partners on season 25 prior to their romantic relationship)

"Tell me, was Artem…Did you feel like he hated your guts during the season, or did you guys have a flirty thing?" Bristowe, 35, asked Bella.

The mom of one explained that Chigvintsev was "super strict" with her during rehearsals. "He kind of made a comment about my jive and got really mad at me," she recalled. "And I was like 'You know what, dude? J. Lo and Beyoncé don't jive. I don't have time for this.' And I walked out and I got in my car."

Bella said she called her then-fiancé John Cena at the time about Chigvintsev. She recalled telling Cena, "I am quitting. I am not going to stand for this. He is a d---!"

"I remember during dress rehearsals sometimes I'd be like, 'Is he mad at me?' " Bella recalled. "It would make me feel really off. It would just be his tone. It was hard, it was hard on me a lot."

Bristowe then told Bella that she was relieved they shared similar experiences. "Okay, I'm glad because I was, like, 'Maybe he just didn't like me at all as a person,' the former Bachelorette said, adding that she "heard all the dancers are like that."

In November, Bella revealed during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show that she and Chigvintsev experienced issues in their relationship when the Russian dancer left to film DWTS just months after they had welcomed their son.

"I was so supportive and pushing him out the door to go do Dancing and then I realized once he left, I was like, 'Oh my gosh, what did I do? Like I need him.' And so it was really hard," Bella said.

When host Tamron Hall asked the former pro wrestler if they were in therapy, she responded, "We're going to start after the season and it's mainly just to be amazing parents and knowing how to balance parent life out and also our own relationship. Because Artem and I don't ever want to have a struggle. You know, we plan on being married."

Bella — who was previously set to marry Cena before they called off the engagement in 2018 — met Chigvintsev when they were partnered on DWTS in 2017. They reconnected after her breakup and made their relationship official in July 2019. The couple got engaged during a romantic trip to France that November.

On July 31, 2020, Bella and Chigvintsev welcomed their baby boy, less than 24 hours before Bella's twin sister Brie welcomed her second child, son Buddy Dessert, with husband Daniel Bryan.
