Nightmare Before Christmas’ Jack and Sally Monster High Dolls

Mattel‘s Monster High dolls are known for their skinny, spindly bodies and large heads with big eyes. Typically, when the line teams up with another license, the guest characters adapt their style to match these manga-inspired proportions. This time around, however, they’ve found a team-up with famous characters equally known for skinny physiques and melon noggins — Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

This Is Doll-O-Ween

But what’s this? What’s this? There’s color everywhere! Well, maybe not everywhere, but Sally’s sporting brighter hues than usual, and Jack actually wears a vest that includes a color neither black nor white. Orange is, of course, the color of pumpkins, but it’s rare for Jack to wear that with his usual gothic ensemble.

Other fashion details have also changed. Sally wears a spider-webby skirt with Monster High Skulls, while Jack has more skeletal prints. And Sally’s hair looks extra-long, almost ’70s style. The most obvious inference is that these are meant to represent hypothetical high-school versions of Halloween Town’s awkward power couple. Since their dynamic was already one of Prom King and designated wallflower, it’s not that much of a stretch.

Specifically, as Mattel puts it, “The Monster High Skullector series reimagines horror icons through the lens of freaky fabulous Monster High style. Disney’s Jack Skellington and Sally are a lovable duo in haunting details that will make you scream with joy. Disney’s Jack Skellington radiates ghostlike charm in a stylized skeleton body. He wears a pinstriped suit with a skull motif, his bat bow tie, and Spiral Hill-heeled oxfords. Sally’s vibrant red hair and stitching details complement her gore-geous face sculpt, topped by a thistle, and bow headband.”

The $90 set of two dolls goes up for preorder Oct 27 at Mattel Creations. Enjoy more official images below.
