'Night of pure musical magic': Acclaimed artists will play at Peoria festival

Soul, R&B and gospel songs are set to return to the Peoria riverfront this August as part of the Peoria Park District's River City Soul Fest and Gospel Fest.

Established in 1999, this year marks Soul Fest's 25-year anniversary.

"Immerse yourself in the smooth vibes of R&B, the timeless melodies of Soul, and the powerful resonance of Gospel," the Peoria Park District wrote on its website. "Our carefully curated lineup features both acclaimed artists and local gems, promising a night of pure musical magic."

When is Soul Fest and Gospel Fest?

Performances will take place over two days in early August.

Gospel Fest will be held on Aug. 2 − with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the performance beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Soul Fest show will begin at 7 p.m. on Aug. 3. Doors for the show will open at 6 p.m.

Who is performing at Gospel Fest?

Gospel singer Le’Andria Johnson will perform at the 2024 Gospel Fest event. In 2012, Johnson earned a GRAMMY for the award's Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance category.

Gospel Fest will also include The Victory Travelers.

Who is performing at Soul Fest?

Musiq Soulchild − whose songs include "Halfcrazy," "Love" and "Dontchange" − will perform at Soul Fest. Guest artist Keke Wyatt is also set to perform.

The Peoria Park District's website notes: "Prepare to be transported by the smooth and captivating vocals of two R&B powerhouses as they deliver hit after hit, igniting the atmosphere with their undeniable talent and magnetic stage presence."

How much do tickets cost?

Gospel Fest tickets are $15 for those who purchase in advance. Tickets will cost $20 on the day of the event. Tickets for Soul Fest are listed for $27 in advance and $35 for the day of.

A 2-day pass for those attending both events is available for $37.
