The Strike Force Three live event scheduled for this weekend has been canceled after Jimmy Kimmel tested positive for Covid-19. Kimmel was set to host the event alongside Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert at the Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas on Sept. 23.

“Well, Las Vegas, I got Covid, and sadly, we need to cancel this weekend’s Strike Force Three show,” Kimmel wrote on social media. “I could never live with myself if I got my hometown friends sick. Thanks to all who purchased tickets, everyone will get full refunds and we will try to reschedule if possible.”

The live event would have united the three late-night hosts onstage for the first time ever. It came out of the recent Strike Force Five podcast that the trio started with Seth Meyers and John Oliver. Proceeds from the live show were intended to benefit late-night staff members who are impacted by the current WGA and SAG strikes.

Strike Force Five launched on Aug. 30 via Spotify. Proceeds from the podcast directly benefit each host’s staff on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night With Seth Meyers, and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.

According to a release about the podcast, Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, Meyers, and Oliver began meeting via Zoom shortly after the strikes began to discuss the next steps. “Their idea was to meet every week to discuss the serious issues a work stoppage creates,” it noted. “What happened instead was a series of hilarious and compelling conversations. Now, [the hosts] invite you to listen in on their once-private chats on this all-new podcast.”

Strike Force Five is running for a minimum of 12 episodes, with each entry rotating which host is at the helm of the conversation. So far the episodes have seen the hosts sharing some serious dirt, including that Kimmel was on the verge of retiring before the WGA strike began and that Colbert is in possession of a former dictator’s pants.
