Night Court’s Dan Fielding is getting reacquainted with an old friend.

Marsha Warfield, who co-starred with John Larroquette on the original Night Court, reprises her role as Roz in Tuesday’s Season 2 premiere (NBC, 8/7c), and Larroquette says it was just like old times being back on set with her.

“It was just like the old bicycle thing,” he tells TVLine. “It was immediate and intimate and hilarious to be with her again.” But he adds that their reunion was bittersweet at well: “When we looked at each other, we realized we were the only two [main actors] left from the original… The last time I saw her was at [co-star] Markie Post’s memorial. So it was happy to see her in circumstances where we got to work together again, instead of just being in a place where we had to be, because of our love of the people who had passed.”

Warfield first returned to NBC’s new Night Court in the Season 1 finale, with Roz showing up in Dan’s New Orleans courtroom as a defendant following a rowdy bachelorette party. In the Season 2 premiere, she reconnects with her old friend Dan — and somehow leads him back to the New York City courtroom of judge Abby Stone, played by Melissa Rauch. “It was such a dream, like a dream of dreams, to have her on the show,” Rauch raves, adding that Warfield’s first entrance in the season finale was “one of my favorite moments ever at a live taping of a show. Watching Marsha come out and seeing her stand across from John… I had tears streaming down my face.”

Rauch continued to fangirl out, too, when she shared scenes with Warfield in the Season 2 premiere: “Getting to be in the [judge’s] chambers, there’s a couch in that room that is the couch from the original [series], and standing there with John and Marsha, I had to be like, ‘Keep your chill, keep your chill,’ because it was just so, so exciting to get to be in a scene with the two of them.”
