Netflix and Sony Pictures Television’s hit series “The Night Agent” has filled out its cast for Season 2 with Michael Malarkey (“The Vampire Diaries”) and Keon Alexander (“The Expanse”) as series regulars and Navid Negahban (“Homeland”) and Rob Heaps (“Station 11”) as recurring guest stars, opposite returning stars Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan.

Based on the best selling novel by Matthew Quirk, the first season of the show followed Peter Sutherland (Basso), an FBI agent recruited to monitor a rarely used phone in the basement of the White House for the mysterious Night Agent program. When cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin (Buchanan) calls the number one night, they’re both pulled into a twisty conspiracy that reaches to the top echelons of the U.S. government.

Season 2 will follow Sutherland as he begins his career as a full-time Night Agent, while maintaining a relationship with Larkin.

Malarkey — who followed his role as Lorenzo “Enzo” St. John on The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” with roles in “Westworld,” “Project Blue Book,” “Big Sky” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” — will play Markus, a military chief and loyal nephew to a dictator newly convicted of war crimes by the Hague.

Alexander, who played Marco Inaros on three seasons of “The Expanse,” will play Javad, who oversees security for the Iranian Mission to the United Nations and monitors the loyalty of its employees.

Negahban — a veteran character actor who’s appeared on “The Old Man,” “Tehran, “The Cleaning Lady,” “Legion,” and as Abu Nazir on “Homeland” — will play Abbas, the venerable U.N. ambassador for Iran.

And Heaps — who’s recently appeared on “Station 19,” “Partner Track,” “Good Girls” and “Imposters” — will play Tomas, the elitist son of the aforementioned deposed dictator, who is keen on restoring his family to power.

They join Season 2 regulars Amanda Warren (“The Burial”), Berto Colon (“Power Book II: Ghost”), Arienne Mandi (“The L Word: Generation Q”) and Louis Herthum (“The Peripheral”), and recurring stars Brittany Snow (“X”) and Teddy Sears (“Chicago Fire”).

“The Night Agent” is the sixth most popular series ever on Netflix, amassing 98.2 million views in its first season. Creator Shawn Ryan (“The Shield,” “S.W.A.T.”) is executive producing and showrunning through MiddKidd Productions, along with fellow executive producers David Beaubaire, Seth Gordon, Julia Gunn, Marney Hochman, Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, Nicole Tossou, James Vanderbilt, Paul Bernard and Munis Rashid.

Malarkey is represented by Gersh and managed by Jeff Golenberg at Silver Lining Entertainment. Alexander is represented by Authentic Talent and Literary Management, Gersh and GGA.
