Nigerian Brothers Released from Custody with No Charges in Jussie Smollett Case, No Longer Suspects

Abel and Ola Osundairo just got their freedom back after Chicago officials released them from custody in the Jussie Smollett investigation with no charges.

The Chief Communications Officer from the Chicago PD tells The Blast, “Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete.”

We’re told the Osundairo brothers, who have been in custody since yesterday, are no longer being classified as suspects.

As we reported, the Nigerian brothers both know the “Empire” star, and one even appeared on the show. Their attorney said they work out with Smollett at their gym in Chicago.

Earlier in the day, police had placed both Abel and Ola under arrest during a round of intense interrogations. They were never charged, and now it appears information they presented during the interrogation scored them their exit from custody.

Police have not named any new suspects.
