Nigel McGuinness is looking to become a magician, and he owes his newfound chase at a dream to the late Jay Briscoe.

McGuinness is no stranger to the world of wrestling, having previously appeared for All Elite Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and WWE. However, the actor/commentator is now looking to chase his dreams of becoming a magician, and in an interview with Metro, he credited the inspiration to Jay Briscoe.

“Jay Briscoe’s passing, unfortunately, really was the impetus to put together the show based on living for the day. You just don’t know about tomorrow,” said McGuinness of his new magic show, called “Celebration.”

Of course, while it’s a bit shocking to see the former wrestler pursuing something like magic, Nigel McGuinness says that magic and wrestling share a lot in common, and it’s fun to meet fans that might not think he can do something like this.

“It’s something that a lot of us in the business forget and don’t realize, that most fans only see us in the ring, or they might meet us at a meet and greet or whatever else,” McGuinness said. “To see wrestlers away from it all, it’s enjoyable certainly, to see that kiddish excitement in his face as well. It’s a beautiful thing!”

Nigel McGuinness recently returned to Ring Of Honor at Supercard Of Honor. He also appeared on the April 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, where Tony Khan announced All In at Wembley Stadium on August 27.

McGuiness has been retired from in-ring competition for several years but he told Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy that AEW All In could possibly be a fitting occasion for one final match.

“I think if we sell the place out, maybe I’ve got no argument but to go dust the boots off,” Nigel McGuinness added. “But it’s so many things, it’s the event, it’s the opponent, it’s the timing and it’s hard to know. I cannot give you a definitive in that regard.”
