Nicole Scherzinger is bringing Sunset Boulevard back to Broadway.

On Thursday, the producers behind the current revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard in London announced the show will move from the U.K. to Broadway later this year. Scherzinger, 45, has been leading the revival since it opened for preview performances in September 2023 and will make her Broadway debut in the role. The show opened on Oct. 5 and is expected to close in London on Saturday in advance of its move to Broadway, per Playbill.

The Pussycat Dolls singer stars in Sunset Boulevard as the movie star Norma Desmond. Her costars in London — Tom Francis, Grace Hodgett-Young and David Thaxton — will also join the production for its Broadway run.

"Drenched in champagne and cynicism, Sunset Boulevard scrutinizes the ambitions and frustrations of its characters and their intoxicating need for fame and adoration," reads an official synopsis for the musical, which follows a romance between Norma and a screenwriter named Joe Gillis (Francis) as she attempts to resurrect her Hollywood career.

The production is directed by Jamie Lloyd with a book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. The musical itself is based on the 1950 Academy Award-winning film of the same name, directed by Billy Wilder and starring Gloria Swanson.

The original Sunset Boulevard musical premiered in London in 1993 and moved to Broadway in 1994 with Glenn Close in the lead role. It ran at New York City's Minskoff Theatre until 1997 and received a revival (also starring Close) 20 years later that ran for 138 performances in 2017, per Playbill.

Scherzinger told PEOPLE back in September that she did not necessarily dream of playing Norma Desmond before speaking with director Lloyd about the role.

"I was like, 'Are you crazy? Are you mad?' I didn’t get it, because I only ever had Glenn Close in my mind — and Gloria Swanson in the old film," she said at the time. "He was like, 'Don’t watch the movie, don’t listen to anybody else, just read the lines and listen to the music.' And when I did, I just fell in love with Norma. I didn’t realize that this is the role that I’ve been waiting to play all my life. We’re doing a completely different, new interpretation."

"There are so many parallels between Sunset Boulevard and what you have to do to make it in Hollywood," she added at the time. "Even when you’re fully loaded with so much talent, you could still be overlooked because of stereotypes and ageism. It is a tragedy. " have so much ammunition for this — so much fuel."

Sunset Boulevard has not yet announced official production dates, additional casting or what theater it will run at. More information may be found at the production's official website.
