Nicole Richie Says Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden Are Doing ‘Amazing’ Since Welcoming Son Cardinal

Richie spoke with 'Entertainment Tonight' about the family's new addition at the premiere of her film 'Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead' on Tuesday

Nicole Richie is celebrating a new addition to the family.

The star, 42 spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of her new film, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, on Tuesday about how great things are going for her brother-in-law Benji Madden, 45, and his wife Cameron Diaz, 51, with their new baby boy Cardinal.

“Everyone's amazing," Richie said while speaking to the outlet.

Richie - who shares daughter Harlow, 16, and son Sparrow, 14, with husband Joel Madden - was also asked if her husband’s twin gained inspiration from him to also choose a bird name for his newborn.

"I didn't ask, but I really don't think they did,” Richie said. “I think it's just a twin thing -- who knows?"

Madden also told Entertainment Tonight, "It was a surprise to all of us. We're all very happy though.”

Diaz and Benji announced the birth of their second child in March. "We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden❤️🙏," they wrote at the time. "He is awesome and we are all so happy he is here! For the kids safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures- but he’s a really cute ☺️We are feeling so blessed and grateful 🍀Sending much love from our fam to yours 🙏❤️Best wishes and Good Afternoon!! 🤘⚡️."

Meanwhile, Richie - who plays the role of Rose Lindsey in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead - also opened up about her younger sister Sofia Richie Grainge’s, 25, pregnancy.

“I’m beside myself, I don’t even know what to say,” Richie revealed. “I have to like really contain all of my excitement.”

Richie is expecting her first baby with her husband Elliot Grainge, 30, whom she married in April 2023.

Opening up about her pregnancy in February, Richie explained that she was afraid of getting stretch marks.

"I am seven months pregnant and I have been figuring out things that work for me, that don't work for me, that have helped me," Richie said in a TikTok video at the time.

"I am so afraid of getting stretch marks. I know it comes with the territory but I'm doing everything I can to prevent [it]," she added as she held up a tub of Bumpology's Bump Butter.

"So my doctor, when I first found out I was pregnant, she was like, 'I have this shea butter that people love.' I am obsessed. I've gone through like six tubs and ordered them."
