Nicole Richie & Joel Madden’s Teens Are Twinning in Matching Black in a Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden had a major twinning moment with their kids in a rare red carpet appearance on Tuesday night. The Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead star brought her teens Harlow, 16, and Sparrow, 14, to the film’s premiere at The Grove in Los Angeles, and the family of four all wore matching black.

In photos from the event, Richie wore her hair up with a short black dress adorned with sparkly gold chains around the neck. She paired it with black heels as she stood next to Sparrow, dressed in a black polo with black jeans and sneakers. Harlow stood on Sparrow’s other side, wearing a strapless black top with black leather pants and sneakers. Her long blonde hair was worn down.

Madden was at the far end of the picture, wearing a black trucker hat, a black t-shirt, a black jacket, and black pants. His black sneakers looked similar to his son’s.

Also in the picture — and also wearing all black! — was Richie’s mom Brenda Harvey-Richie, her dad Lionel Richie, and his long-time girlfriend Lisa Parigi.

Richie and Madden don’t often bring their kids on official appearances together. One of the last was in 2010, when a toddler Harlow and baby Sparrow went to the Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! event, also wearing mostly black outfits.

At the film premiere, The Simple Life alum opened up about Madden’s twin brother Benji Madden and wife Cameron Diaz welcoming a baby boy named Cardinal recently. Entertainment Tonight asked if the two spoke about using a bird name for their son, and she responded, “I didn’t ask, but I really don’t think they did. I think it’s just a twin thing, who knows.”

Madden commented about the baby news, “It was a surprise to all of us. We’re all very happy though.”
