  • In their nearly two decades together, the couple have had their fair share of ups and downs, but are proof that true love conquers all.

Just here with your regular reminder that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are the cutest couple to exist. The pair celebrated their 16th (yes, 16th!) anniversary over the weekend, and Kidman shared a precious throwback wedding photo in honor of the occasion.

“Sweet XVI ❤️ Remember this like it was yesterday. Forever 🕯❤️,” the Big Little Lies star captioned the post. In the photo, the pair look like babies—dressed in traditional wedding attire, they’re shown lighting a candle together and smiling. And if you follow either of the artists and see their frequent posts about each other, you know that today, their love is just as strong—if not stronger—than it was back then.

Even so, fans and followers loved traveling back in time with the pair, and of course, congratulated them on nearly two decades of marriage. “The journey you have both shared with us is a beautiful and inspiring one. Happy Anniversary! ❤️❤️” one person commented. “Happy Anniversary love birds ❤😍,” another added. “Happy 16th Anniversary to my favorite couple!❤️😍🎉🎊💕💖,” someone else wrote.

And of course, Urban didn’t go without giving his lover a shoutout on their special day. The country singer shared a selfie in which they appear to be enjoying a meal on a patio, both wearing hats and sunglasses. “HAPPY SWEET 16 BABY xxxxx,” he captioned the post.

Although the pair’s marriage may seem perfect from the outside, it hasn’t always been easy. In fact, earlier this year, Urban opened up about how his alcoholism nearly ruined their relationship early on and credited Kidman with saving his life.

Shortly after they married in 2006, the “Somebody Like You” singer completed a final stint in rehab thanks to Kidman’s push. “I had to find a different way to be in the world,” he told The Sunday Times. In 2016, he told Rolling Stone that Kidman truly gave him a fresh lease on life.

“I was spiritually awoken with her,” he said. “I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel. And for the first time in my life, I could shake off the shackles of addiction.”

And even today, the two are always learning how to compromise as two successful and busy creatives with two young daughters. “We’re always working through stuff, but it’s very much love-based, so there’s an enormous amount of give and take. I want him to have the best life he can have, and he responds the same way,” Kidman told Harper’s BAZAAR last year. “We really love parenting together.”

The couple is proof that true love is definitely hard work, but it’s worth it. We love their love!
