A third season of Big Little Lies is apparently in the works, according to Nicole Kidman.

The actress, 56, seemingly confirmed that a follow-up installment in the limited series is on the horizon while taking part in an undisclosed fan event, as seen in a video shared on Instagram Friday by DeuxMoi.

“I loved Big Little Lies because it sort of came along at a time in my life when I had my children, and I was thinking I was going to retire, and then this situation came along, where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show,” Kidman said. “And then all of you watched it and made it a massive success.”

“And we will be bringing you a third one, just FYI,” the star then added.

Representatives for Kidman, as well as HBO — which aired Big Little Lies — did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Big Little Lies premiered in 2017 and was based on Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name. It starred Kidman, as well as Witherspoon, 47, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz in the lead roles.

The series followed the lives of a group of wealthy parents in Monterey, California, as they dealt with a murder that affected their community.

A second season followed in 2019, with Meryl Streep joining the cast as Kidman’s on-screen mother-in-law.

The show also starred Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, Kathryn Newton, James Tupper and Jeffrey Nordling, among others.

Though both seasons of Big Little Lies were praised by fans and critics alike, one of the series' stars said that a third season was not in the cards after the death of season one director Jean-Marc Vallée, who died of a heart attack at age 58 in December 2021.

During a GQ video interview. Kravitz, 34, said, "We talked about doing a season 3 a lot. Unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away this last year. It's heartbreaking."

She continued, "I can't imagine going on without him. He really was the visionary for that show. Unfortunately, it's done."

Back in 2019, HBO president Casey Bloys said a potential third go didn't seem possible for a different reason.

“I love this group of people — I would do anything with them,” Bloys told TVLine at the time when asked about the prospect of a renewal. “But the reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood. ... I just think it’s not realistic.”
