Nicole Kidman Poses with a Pixie Cut in New Photoshoot — See the Bold Look

Nicole Kidman is switching things up when it comes to her signature strands.

The actress, 51, just debuted a dramatic pixie cut in a new photoshoot for the May issue of Vanity Fair and it’s a stark departure from her long, loose waves.

She posed with her spiky hairstyle wearing menswear-inspired outfits, including a trench coat with black tights and a black military jacket with matching relaxed-fit trousers and shiny dark loafers.

While the style looks great on Kidman, it doesn’t appear that the star chopped anything off for good. Other shots in the magazine, including the cover pic, show her long locks in tact — meaning the blunt ‘do is likely a wig.

Inside the magazine, Kidman spoke with Vanity Fair executive West Coast editor Krista Smith about a bevy of topics, including the upcoming second season of HBO’s Big Little Lies.

She said she cherished the time she had with costars Zoë Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon. “To watch Zoë and Shailene grow up and to see them become women, it’s so nice, and I’ve never had that,” Kidman said. “I know Laura and Reese feel that, too. We’re all so different, yet we complement each other.”

They all bonded so closely that Kidman says the whole cast will be at Kravitz’s upcoming wedding to actor Karl Glusman. “Look at the Friends cast,” she said, thinking back on the stars of the beloved NBC sitcom. “They spent all that time together — they’re different because there are no men in our equation. I mean, there are, but they’re not on the group chat, let’s put it that way.”

The show has helped Kidman evolve as an actress. She told Vanity Fair of her decades-long career: “There isn’t a shelf life like there used to be. That’s why it’s so important to keep changing. We live longer now, if we’re fortunate. So there has to be a place to put all that creative energy.… I’ve done weird films and I’ve done things that are so obtuse, which I’m still committed to because I like performance art and not conforming to what everyone expects of you. I don’t think in normal terms. Keith always says, ‘You’re so not mainstream.’ ”

Keith, of course, is Keith Urban — Kidman’s husband since 2006. “[It’s] extremely simple with what we want from each other and what we want from a relationship,” Kidman said of her bond with the country singer, 51. “Just peas in a pod in that regard.”

“I love that Keith is a guitar player and a singer, but his passion is guitar and writing music,” Kidman continued, adding that she loves being a “tour wife” and can easily memorize his schedule. “That’s what I’m around every day.”

As for parenthood, the mother of four admitted to Vanity Fair that she’s not always the most popular parent with the Sunday Rose, 10, and Faith Margaret, 8 — her two kids she shares with Urban.

“They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram,” she said. “I try to keep some sort of boundaries.”

Vanity Fair‘s May 2019 issue is on newsstands nationally on Tuesday, May 7.
