Lifetime has announced the premiere date for its two-night, four-part docuseries centering around the late Nicole Brown Simpson, timed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of her death.

Airing on June 1 and 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson will feature Nicole’s three sisters — Denise, Dominique, and Tanya Brown — alongside 50 participants who “knew Nicole best” as they offer rare insight into her life and unpack the details/controversy surrounding her tragic death.

The documentary will also provide a chance “for Nicole’s own narrative and voice to be heard in one of the most notorious crimes and trials in history,” Lifetime noted in the formal descriptor.

“What happened to our sister Nicole should never have happened to her or to any other woman,” said the Brown sisters in a statement. “Her life was stolen from her and while her abuser is finally gone, it doesn’t take away the anguish we feel or the pain of her children who lost their mother. We hope that by sharing Nicole’s story, it will help others recognize the signs and get the help they need and her legacy will continue to live on.”

Lifetime teased that the doc will include “shocking new details in the tragic story” and will “shed new light” on Nicole’s life and death. “It’s been 30 years. Maybe it’s time to rekindle the flame of Nicole,” said one of her sisters in the documentary‘s official trailer (above).

They got emotional when recounting how Nicole “always thought [OJ Simpson] was going to hurt her” and how they couldn’t protect her from “the monster she was married to.”

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the documentary has been in the works for more than a year, despite the announcement coming so soon after Simpson’s death. The former pro-athlete died on April 10 following a battle with metastatic prostate cancer.

Nicole — his ex-wife and the mother of their two children, Sydney and Justin — was murdered at age 35 in June 1994. Simpson was famously accused and acquitted of her murder, as well as the murder of Ron Goldman. However, according to The New York Times, a civil jury concluded that he “willingly and wrongfully” caused their deaths in an unanimous decision in 1997.
