Nicole Brown Simpson Doc in the Works at Lifetime

Nicole Brown Simpson will be getting the docuseries treatment at Lifetime.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Brown Simpson — who was famously found murdered in 1994 outside her Brentwood condominium, along with her friend Ronald Goldman, and whose late ex-husband, O.J. Simpson, was accused and ultimately acquitted of the murder charges — is the subject of what is planned to be a two-night event titled The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson.

News of the doc comes after the announcement that O.J. Simpson died one day prior at age 76 from cancer. His family, who announced his death on social media April 11, said the football player turned actor, who then became best known for the high-profile 1994-95 murder trial, was surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the time of his death.

The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson has been in the works for more than a year and, as THR understands, is centered on Nicole Brown’s story in a bid to reclaim her narrative. The project is pegged to the 30-year anniversary of her death. More than 50 participants said to have known her best, including her sisters, close family and friends, are participating in the docuseries, which is said to include exclusive archival video and unprecedented family access.

Nicole Brown Simpson and O.J. Simpson were married for seven years and shared two children, Sydney and Justin. The fallen football star was later found liable for the deaths of Nicole Brown and Goldman in a 1997 civil lawsuit.

The docuseries had been targeted for a June release, but that date could inch closer with the news of O.J.’s death.

The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson is a project in Lifetime’s Stop Violence Against Women initiative, which also counts the recently announced project Gaslit by My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story, which is based on the true story of Morgan and Rodney Metzer, who will be played by Jana Kramer and Austin Nichols.

Lifetime most recently launched event docs Where Is Wendy Williams? and The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, which were each big ratings draws for the cable network.
