While the trio comprised of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) will forever be the foundation of And Just Like That, the Sex and the City reboot’s other characters, including their new additions, have become a crucial part of the series. Nicole Ari Parker‘s character Lisa Todd Wexley, who becomes one of Charlotte’s greatest confidantes, for example, is a true scene-stealer.

Last season, in addition to her iconic Met Gala scene where she walks around New York in a magnificent red gown with her husband Herbert (Christopher Jackson) holding the train, Lisa Todd (aka LTW) sadly had a miscarriage and began to grapple with the loss.

Talking to Parker ahead of season 3, which she revealed starts filming on May 1 (!), it seems the actress is as excited as the viewers to see what comes next. “I hope that LTW and her husband really get to deal with their marriage and some of the struggles that [happen] when you’re in your 40s or 50s, and you have a resurgence, and all of the things that you want to do in life can take a toll on your family,” she tells SheKnows. “So I would love to explore the crossroads that both of these characters are finding themselves.”

As for the miscarriage storyline, Parker thinks the emotional experience is “going to be a wake-up call for them and for their relationship.”

Ahead of the new season, news of two characters not coming back already hit the headlines. Sara Ramírez, who plays Miranda’s ex Che Diaz, and Karen Pittman, who plays Professor Nya Wallace, will not be returning. “It’s a big hole in the fabric of the show,” Parker says of the news. “I miss them already.”

As for how their absences will be dealt with on the show, Parker didn’t have those answers just yet. “I don’t know how they’re going to work with the storylines,” she says. “I don’t know anything. I’m not even being coy.”

With being that said, Parker is still buzzing to return to set. “I think that [creator Michael Patrick King] has planned to build the season with really exciting stories,” she says.

Most of all, it seems Parker is still pinching herself about even being in a reboot from such an “iconic” show. “They’re all amazing, mighty women,” Parker says of the leading trio. “That show’s 20 plus years old and for to be revived with the same excitement feels like Christmas.”

Most recently, Parker collaborated with Karen Millen as the newest Icon of their ICON series. Previous stars include with Tyra Banks, Helena Christensen, Elizabeth Hurley, Paulina Porizkova and Elle Macpherson. “It’s great company to be in,” she says.

“Karen Millen has this kind of affordable luxury and elegance and craftsmanship that stands the test of time,” she says of the brand. “Kind of like the icon.”

Speaking of the collection, Parker couldn’t even choose a favorite piece. “All of them I think my favorite pieces are for different reasons. The black leather trench dress is so well made and so versatile, you can wear something under it, you could wear it by itself, you can dress it up, you can put boots on with it,” she says. “Those kinds of staples are part of my fashion sense.”

“I also love the whimsy of her cocktail attire and I’ll even wear it on the red carpet like a white dress with a black flower is just superb,” she adds.
