Nicola Coughlan Looked Like the Most Fabulous Bride at the “Bridgerton” Premiere

For the past two seasons, Nicola Coughlan has been the secret leading star of Netflix’s smash Regency-era series Bridgerton. While season one centered on the romantic entanglement between Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page), and season two pivoted to the slow burn of Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley), Coughlan’s character, Penelope Featherington, has been pulling the strings behind the scenes all along. With her persona, Lady Whistledown, Penelope has effectively altered the actions of the ton using just the power of her quill, like a period Easy A or Gossip Girl. Now, it’s finally her time to be the leading lady, and Coughlan certainly dressed the part on Monday night.

At last night's season three premiere of Bridgerton in New York City, Coughlan sported a custom white gown from Danielle Frankel that completely stole the show. The dress was an updated version of the bridal brand’s Daphne gown, which first debuted in their Fall/Winter ’24 collection.

The silk taffeta design was composed of a rich ivory color, and it featured all kinds of intricate elements that resulted in a dynamic silhouette. Up top, there was a sweetheart bodice layered underneath another panel of fabric, which flowed up the front of the gown and diverged along Coughlan’s arms to create swirling off-the-shoulder sleeves. Along the waist, a peplum detail added some shape to the column skirt, and the draped material wrapped around the back, where it morphed into a panel train that flowed behind the Irish star (a detail that was added for this particular red carpet).

To keep the ensemble monochromatic, Coughlan (and her stylist, Aimée Croysdill), added a pair of crisp white opera gloves, also from Danielle Frankel, as well as a pair of pointy white heels to round things out. The only pops of color were courtesy of the actor’s emerald green drop earrings and rings, from Chopard, as well as a red Artists4Ceasefire pin that Coughlan attached to one of her gloves. Oh, and for one more splash of color, the star chose a bold red lip, which matched her pin and contrasted the outfit perfectly.
