Nicki Minaj is officially declaring an end to #HotGirlSummer ... because she announced her retirement.
The "MEGATRON" rapper just went on Twitter and announced, "I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now."
She added, "To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me."
One would think that many of Nicki's fans would be upset over the news, but the rapper did not that reaction.
Instead, most responses either expressed joy for the star on being happy ... while others suggested the retirement should have come earlier.
"if you are legitimately retiring, I commend you. I thank you for ALL that you have done for ME and the BARBZ! we will love you unconditionally forever. thank you for all of the amazing memories that we have all shared together," a loyal fan wrote.
On the other end of the spectrum, one person tweeted, "About time, please literally dont come back unless you're dropping actual MUSIC."
Others pointed out that Nicki has threatened to leave the music world before, only to return with new music.
One fan suggested she may be trolling everyone: "Ummm let me call my lawyer , cus I'm sure you signed a 6 album contract."
The move is interesting, coming one day after Nicki's fiancé, Kenneth Petty, seemed to flash the magazine of a gun in his pocket while the star was streaming on her Instagram story.
Many called out Petty, who is a convicted felon and sex offender, for carrying a gun.
It's unclear if the firearm was real, although it looked pretty authentic. New York, where Petty was convicted, is also notorious for having strict laws prohibiting felons from possessing firearms.
Nicki did not say if her impromptu retirement was connected to that specific incident, but clearly she has had enough of the criticism over the love of her life.
We'll see if she comes back.
