Nicki Minaj Released After Being Detained For Alleged Drug Possession

Rapper Nicki Minaj has been released by police in Amsterdam after being detained for alleged drug possession. Minaj had earlier documented an intense exchange with authorities, who directly told her she was getting arrested after weed was found in her possession.

However, Minaj claimed that the weed "pre-rolls" did not belong to her but to members of her security team. The rapper's shocking arrest led to calls for her freedom on social media, with her fan base, the Barbz, causing #FreeNicki to trend on X.

In the live video, an official is heard stating their intent to arrest the "Pink Friday" hitmaker for purportedly "carrying drugs," which she vehemently denied.

The rapper shared via X on Saturday, "Now they said they found weed and that another group of people have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls."

She continued: "Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already told them those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh, and the pilot wants me to take my Instagram post down."

In another update, the rapper revealed that the police said she has to "go 5 mins away to make a statement about my security to the police precinct."

"I'm not going in there. I need a lawyer present," Minaj stressed. However, despite her protests, the 41-year-old eventually entered a police vehicle, as shown in the video she posted online.

Minaj later expressed worry about her upcoming performance, but an officer reassured her that efforts would be made to "get her there" as soon as possible.

On Instagram, Minaj captioned her livestream video: "They've been trying to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now saying they're waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when [people] are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they've done is illegal."

Fans Were Enraged By The Arrest Of The Rapper

Over on X, Minaj's fans began protesting the arrest with #FreeNicki trending. Barbz, as the rapper's fans are fondly called, also shared videos of large crowds anticipating Minaj's arrival in Manchester, hoping she would be released in time for her concert.

One person wrote, "Nicki better sue that WHOLE COUNTRY when she gets out and smokes the blunt she was arrested for."

Another person said, "She does all this for us. She doesn't have to go on tour, but she loves her fans too much. After this situation I have realized that we have to go harder for her. We don't deserve her. #FreeNicki."

"This is Nicki's 4th world tour. She's not new to tour [routes], traveling abroad, abiding by international laws, and going through customs for private flights. When she says that things aren't right and she knows why, believe her. #FreeNicki," a third fan noted.

The rapper had some harsh words for her former team, whom she claimed were doing everything they could to jeopardize her tour.

She accused them of deliberately hindering her travel plans, writing: "They try to make me book another jet every time. All [because] I fired [management] who I found out for years were adding on 30-50K on my jet & pocketing it. I fired a tour [manager] recently who was doing the same thing & mad he got the boot. Their goal is to make me late & to pocket 40k."

Minaj added in another tweet: "It's to try to make me late so that they can write negative stories. Jealousy is a disease. You know the rest."
